Web design for contractors · Halifax & the HRM

The homeowner in Bedford isn't searching for a contractor in Halifax.

He's searching for the job, in his own community — and if your site only says "Halifax", he isn't finding you. We build coded sites for HRM contractors that get found community by community, and we can show you what that produced for a sheet-metal company eight weeks after launch.

Why HRM contractors get missed

The leaks are the same four every time.

None of these is about how the site looks. They are the reasons a homeowner who wanted to hire someone ended up hiring someone else.

  • 1

The site says "Halifax" and nothing else.

There are 21 community plan areas in the HRM, and people search the one they live in. "Heat pump install Bedford" and "heat pump install Dartmouth" are two different results pages. A single Halifax page competes for neither well.

  • 2

Every service is on one page.

Google ranks pages, not businesses. A page that covers six services ranks properly for none of them, because it can't be the best answer to six different questions at once.

  • 3

It's slow on the phone in a driveway.

That's where these searches happen — on data, one-handed, while the homeowner is looking at the problem. A page-builder site loading half a megabyte of scripts loses that visitor before it paints.

  • 4

    You can't tell what's working.

Most contractor sites can't say which page produced which call, so there's no way to know whether the money did anything. That's not a reporting gap — it's the reason you can't decide what to do next.

What's included

What $1,950 actually buys.

Flat price, quoted up front, and the same list whether you're in Dartmouth or Hammonds Plains.

  • A page per service

Each one written around a job you actually want, so it can be the best answer to that specific search.

  • Community coverage

Your service area structured the way people search it, by community name — the thing that made the Bedford build rank town by town.

  • Coded, not templated

Server-rendered and lean. No page-builder, no plugin stack, nothing to slow down in a driveway.

  • Schema and metadata from launch

LocalBusiness and service markup in from the first commit, not bolted on when rankings disappoint.

  • Google Business Profile connected

Set up properly and pointed at the right pages — the map pack and the site should reinforce each other.

  • Lead capture with attribution

Every enquiry records which page produced it. That's the part nobody else in this market does, and it's what makes the next decision obvious.

How it goes

Three to four weeks, and you're talking to the person writing it.

No account manager, no discovery deck, no agency markup. I'm in Bedford; if it's easier to talk it through in person, that's a short drive.

  • 1. Week 1 — which jobs, which communitiesThe work you actually want more of, and the parts of the HRM you'll drive to. The page structure comes out of that.
  • 2. Week 2–3 — build itCoded and server-rendered, with the search structure in from the start.
  • 3. Week 4 — lead path and launchForms, click-to-call, Google Business Profile, Search Console — and attribution, so every lead says where it came from.
  • 4. Then you can see it workingLeads and the pages that produced them. Not a rankings screenshot.

What it costs

The price is on the page.

Most studios in this market make you book a call to find out. Here it is: flat, quoted up front, no monthly fee.

  • Coded contractor site

    $1,950one-time · no monthly fee

3–4 weeks from kickoff to live

A contractor or small business that works one area and wants the phone ringing for the jobs that pay.

    • 5–7 pages, written around the work you actually want
    • A dedicated page per service
    • One service-area page
    • Schema and metadata built in from launch, not bolted on
    • Google Business Profile set up and connected
    • Lead capture wired to a real inbox, with attribution
    • You own the code — no platform to rent
  • Service-area build

    $2,950one-time · no monthly fee

3–4 weeks from kickoff to live

A business covering several towns that wants to be found in each of them by name.

    • Everything in the coded site
    • A city × service page structure
    • Internal linking planned across the set
    • The structure that ranks a trade town by town, not just in one
  • Want it kept up after launch? SEO Foundations is $850/mo and SEO Growth is $1,350/mo — optional, month to month, and reporting the leads the site produced rather than a rankings screenshot.
  • Host it wherever you like, or we can host it — that's a separate line, never folded into the build price. Either way we'll need access to deploy and to Search Console, because the SEO work can't be done without it.
  • This isn't the cheapest option and it isn't a five-day turnaround. If you need a placeholder online this week, a template shop will do that better than we will. What you're paying for here is a site that's still earning in two years without a monthly platform bill.

Common questions

Before you get in touch.

How much, and how long?
$1,950 for a coded contractor site, or $2,950 for a service-area build covering several HRM communities. Three to four weeks from kickoff to live. Flat, quoted up front, no monthly fee.
How long until it actually brings work in?
Longer than you'd like, and anyone promising otherwise is selling something. The Bedford client took about eight weeks to reach five leads in a week — and the first four of those weeks produced almost nothing visible, which is normal. If you need the phone ringing next week, that's ads, not this.
Do you only work with contractors?
No, but it's most of what we do and it's what we're best at. The property-management build above is the same engineering pointed at a different buyer.
Do I have to be in Halifax?
No. We're in Bedford and most clients are across the HRM, but the work is done remotely either way — there are clients in Alberta and Ontario on the same builds.
How do I know it's working?
Every lead the site captures records which page produced it, so the monthly report is leads and their source pages rather than a rankings screenshot. Most studios in this market can't answer that question at all.
I already have a site. Is it worth rebuilding?
Sometimes not. Run the free Visibility Check and you'll get a plain-English read on whether yours is worth strengthening instead. We'll say so if it is.
